The Houngo school extension project

Tori is located in the south of Benin, approximately 40 km North West of the economical capital of Benin, Cotonou

Project Details

Project Background:

The school provides education for 245 children coming from the village and the surroundings. The students are divided in 6 classes out of which, 3 are hosted in proper classrooms and the other 3 are hosted in precarious shelters while exposed to climatic conditions. The first class, for the 6 years old kids, counts approximately 85 students managed by a single teacher.

Project Description:

The school extension project consists in the construction of a new building which will host 2 new classrooms. The foundations will also be prepared for a 3rd classroom for when the budget will allow.

Project Impact:

The project aims at providing a better learning environments for the children in Tori. With the new classes built in a proper building, the lessons can be held by any weather condition. With the better conditions provided by the school extension, you will give the children better chances to succeed at school and therefore, open them opportunities for a better future.
